My name is Alfonso Maini. I founded MC hotels led by my passion for hospitality and catering. This passion started when I was very young. As a boy I used to help out in return for the hospitality in the summer camp where I stayed, while my family was busy working the land.

When I was 14, I started my career in hospitality with my experience at Hotel Royal in Cesenatico and later at other hotels in the Romagna Riviera. When I was 18, I graduated from hospitality management school. I passed my exams with my suitcase ready to go, since in the meantime I had been hired at the Grand Hotel Gallia in Milano Marittima for the summer season; this was a world “opening up” for me, due to send me on a long and nice, fulfilling journey. As a Chef, aged 21, I was part of the inauguration of the Restaurant Canè di Dozza in Imola, 1 Michelin Fork. A wonderful memory.

is the year of a turning point in my life: I met Monica, I married her after 6 months’ engagement and I had the ambition of making my dream come true. Together we bought a small restaurant, “Trattoria del Moro”, offering dishes from the local cuisine; my mother and I would work in the kitchen, while Monica and some helpers would wait tables in the restaurant. Our journey began here and it still goes on.

We were given the opportunity to renovate a palace in Molinella, on the plains near Bologna, and turn it into a hotel: 21 rooms and one restaurant equipped for receptions. Work for this project started in May and in October we opened the “Hotel Mini Palace**** “: it was fully booked!

We were given the opportunity to manage the Sport Hotel in Budrio, Bologna. The hotel had been created by Stefano Chiodi, a former footballer from the Bologna team; with the traditional enthusiasm for my job, in May I started the new business venture with Monica, due to last for 15 years with great success. Meanwhile Cristian, our first born, was showing a growing interest in getting involved in the business.

The inauguration of Jole***S Hotel in Cesenatico, marked my return to business on the Romagna Riviera, which, after 30 years, had changed quite a lot.

The Maini family was working in full swing, collaborating to meet the planned targets.

25th year of business, 25 years with Monica. Cristian graduated at University with a degree in Economy and Law and confirmed his passion for our profession; he decided to be part of the company Maini e Cacciari, bringing in new ideas and a lot of enthusiasm. This is how MC Hotels Collection was born.

We left the Jole hotel and started managing the Lalla Hotel, equipped with swimming pool and on the waterfront in Cesenatico. We gradually restored it an turned it into a ***S hotel.

The Regazzi family, a well-known family of hoteliers from Bologna, decided to hand over the Rossini hotel, one of the oldest hotels in the historical centre of Bologna. Back then it was a two-star hotel, so we started a total and thorough refurbishment and we turned it into a luxury boutique hotel: the result is Albergo Rossini 1936 ****S.

Re Enzo hotel ***S, became part of my group. We made the brave decision to renovate it and to achieve four stars.

Our second-born Beatrice expressed her interest in joining the company and therefore, we all decided to expand: we bought Orly Hotel*** next to the Lalla Beauty & Relax hotel. Shortly after that the Lalla & Villa Orly Beauty & Relax ***S was created.
